Cookie Policy

This policy explains the cookies and similar browser storage used by HumanRank today, including localStorage used for sessions, preferences, game activity, analytics, and advertising.

1. Current status

HumanRank uses browser storage for features that users request, such as staying logged in, keeping theme preference, remembering game settings, and showing local activity. HumanRank also loads Umami and Google Analytics to measure website traffic, and Adsterra to display and measure ads on pages where ads are enabled.

RevenueCat is loaded only after login when a connected customer needs to be identified for entitlement, subscription, or purchase-related features. Advertising and other non-essential storage may depend on browser settings, region, and the availability of advertising services.

2. Storage used by HumanRank

humanrank-theme: Stores your light, dark, or system theme preference. Type: localStorage. Purpose: preference and interface continuity. Duration: until changed or cleared.
Supabase auth storage: Stores account session information so you can stay logged in on this browser. The exact key depends on the Supabase project. Type: localStorage or equivalent auth storage. Purpose: strictly necessary authentication. Duration: until logout, expiry, or clearing site data.
humanrank:game-activity:v1: Stores recent local game attempts shown in your profile activity. Type: localStorage. Purpose: requested profile activity feature. Duration: until overwritten by newer attempts or cleared.
humanrank:*settings: Stores settings for individual games, including reaction time, aim trainer, typing, clicks per second, F1 test, number memory, chimp test, verbal memory, sequence memory, and visual memory. Type: localStorage. Purpose: remember requested game preferences. Duration: until changed or cleared.
humanrank-password-reset:<email>: Stores a timestamp used to limit repeated password reset requests from the same browser. Type: localStorage. Purpose: account security and abuse prevention. Duration: the cooldown lasts about 60 seconds; the expired timestamp may remain until cleared.
Umami analytics: Loads the Umami analytics script to measure page views and website usage. Type: analytics script and network requests. Purpose: understand traffic and improve HumanRank. Duration: analytics events are retained by Umami according to its service settings.
Google Analytics: Loads the Google Analytics tag to measure page views, traffic sources, device and browser information, approximate location, and website usage. Type: analytics script, cookies or similar storage, and network requests. Purpose: understand traffic and improve HumanRank. Duration: according to Google Analytics settings and browser controls.
Adsterra advertising: Loads Adsterra to display and measure ads on pages where ads are enabled. Type: advertising scripts, cookies or similar storage, and network requests. Purpose: ad serving, ad measurement, fraud prevention, frequency capping, and personalized ads where permitted. Duration: according to Adsterra and its advertising partners' settings and browser controls.
RevenueCat customer state: Loads the RevenueCat Web SDK after login to identify the connected customer, retrieve entitlement status, and support web purchases. Type: SDK, network requests, and provider-managed storage where needed. Purpose: customer, subscription, and entitlement management. Duration: according to RevenueCat service settings and account lifecycle.

3. Third-party cookies and storage

Google Forms is embedded on the request page. When that page loads, Google may use cookies or similar technologies under its own policies.
Google and Discord may use cookies or similar technologies when you choose their OAuth sign-in flows.
Supabase may use browser storage and network identifiers to operate authentication, sessions, database access, and security features.
Umami may process analytics events and technical request data to provide website usage metrics.
Google Analytics may use cookies or similar technologies and network requests to provide website usage metrics.
Adsterra may use cookies or similar technologies to serve ads, limit how often ads are shown, measure ad performance, prevent fraud, and personalize ads where permitted. Third-party advertising vendors or ad networks may also use cookies or similar technologies when ads are served through Adsterra.
RevenueCat and Stripe may use cookies, browser storage, or similar technologies when a logged-in user interacts with purchase, subscription, checkout, receipt, or entitlement features.
Ko-fi and its payment providers, such as Stripe or PayPal, may use cookies, browser storage, or similar technologies if you open the optional support link.

4. Consent

Storage that is strictly necessary to provide a requested service, such as authentication, security, or remembering a preference you selected, generally does not require a separate consent banner. Non-essential cookies, such as advertising trackers or analytics that do not qualify for an exemption, should require consent before use.

You can block or clear non-essential storage through your browser settings. Doing so may affect analytics, advertising, or other third-party features.

5. How to control storage

Use the theme controls in the app to change the HumanRank theme preference.
Log out from the profile menu to end your account session on this browser.
Clear cookies and site data in your browser settings to remove HumanRank localStorage, auth storage, game settings, and local activity from the device.
Browser controls may also block or delete third-party cookies used by Google, Discord, or other providers, although some features or ads may stop working.
You can opt out of personalized ads through Google's Ads Settings or other opt-out tools offered by participating advertising vendors.

6. Account deletion and local data

Deleting your HumanRank account removes account data and saved scores through the app's deletion flow, but it does not automatically clear localStorage already stored on your browser. Clear site data in your browser if you also want to remove local settings and recent local attempts from the device.
